Kristie Thong

Counsellor / Psychotherapist / Addiction Counsellor

Kristie is a psychotherapeutic counsellor who made it her life’s mission to help others through pain and difficulties.

At Stillness, Kristie works with individuals struggling with compulsive sexual behaviours as well as partners. She also specialises in working with individuals (aged 9 and above) and couples on issues such as:

  • Depression and/or anxiety

  • Emotion regulation / self-harm

  • Shame and/or guilt

  • Struggles with sense of identity, meaning and purpose in life

  • Childhood trauma and how it shows up in adulthood

  • Domestic violence and its impact on self and others

  • Lack of connectedness and/or conflict resolution with partners

Kristie’s therapeutic approach is person-centred and integrative, influenced by theories in attachment, neurophysiology of trauma, psychological flexibility, parts work, and self-compassion. She has professional experience working with children and teenagers, adults, and families through issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, suicidality, self-harm, stressful life transitions, relational difficulties, parent-child relationships, and family/couple conflict. She has worked in various social service and healthcare organisations providing counselling, mental health assessments, casework management, as well as court-mandated counselling and reunification work for families afflicted by domestic violence. She has also conducted group therapy, public workshops, and talks on emotional regulation, crisis management, and financial literacy.

As a former international business editor and writer, Kristie has been exposed to myriad cultural nuances around the world and gained an appreciation of working with individuals from different backgrounds and with varied lived experiences. She is a member of the Singapore Association for Counselling and attends regular clinical supervision and continuing education courses.

Grounded in compassion and authenticity, the very principles in which she strives to live her life, she believes in offering a safe and inclusive therapeutic holding space for clients. Most importantly, she remains humbled by and appreciative of the openness and vulnerability that people bring to the therapy room, where she believes purpose, growth, and healing reside.
