Counselling / Psychotherapy

“A Counselling studio with a heart, providing therapy through the therapeutic relationship, strengthening your inner resilience.”

At our counselling studio, we strive to differentiate ourselves by creating a warm, personal environment—more like a boutique hotel than a large, impersonal chain. While many counselling centres take a clinical, transactional approach, we focus on building genuine therapeutic relationships. We understand that those grappling with trauma, wounds, or addiction often seek something more than a sterile setting, which may remind them of the coldness they’ve experienced elsewhere. Research shows that the therapeutic relationship plays a crucial role in healing, contributing significantly more to outcomes than technique alone. We believe that real connections, supported by professional boundaries, can unlock a client's inner resilience. At our studio, therapy is provided through the therapeutic relationship, fostering trust and safety so that clients can find themselves again.

What is counselling and/or psychotherapy?

There has been a lot more attention on mental health and well-being in today’s society, with greater awareness and acknowledgement of the impact of poor mental health on our lives and relationships with others. Simply put, issues and difficulties we face in our lives can affect the way we see ourselves, how we perceive the future, and how we relate to people and the world.

Counselling is a word often used inter-changeably with therapy or psychotherapy - this often depends on the issues, depth of exploration, and training of the helping professionals. The purpose is to provide a confidential and safe environment for us to share and explore difficulties we are facing in our lives and relationships.

These are some of the common issues that we see in our counselling rooms:

What are its benefits?

Through counselling / psychotherapy, you may gain greater self-awareness, improve daily functioning, learn how to cope with difficult emotions or stressors, or feel empowered to initiative helpful or positive changes in your life. Some may gain a new perspective on their challenges, find release and clarity, or resolve early childhood trauma that often shows up in difficulties in the present-day. At Stillness for the Heart, we work collaboratively with you to identify what is most important for you. Rather than dictate what you should be doing, we will place your needs and hopes for therapy first, meet you where you are, and support you every step of the way.
