Sofia is a qualified psychotherapist specialising in both substance and behavioural addictions. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling from Monash University, Australia and is a certified Substance Abuse Therapist.
Sofia’s therapeutic approach helps clients to gain awareness and identify their strengths and goals, while engaging in their own personal journey with more self-compassion. Her areas of interest include integrating trauma-informed care in addictions treatment, individuals struggling with comorbidity, in particular anxiety disorders, codependency and working with families facing complex issues relating to recovery and addictions.
She is particularly passionate about integrating mindfulness into her practice, utilising a person-centred approach incorporating mindfulness-based interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. She is an active contributor to the therapeutic community and leads mindfulness-based groups for recovery and relapse prevention.
Residing in Singapore for the past 16 years, Sofia has a multicultural background, having previously lived in Australia, the USA, Indonesia, and Spain. She is fluent in English and Spanish, with conversational proficiency in Bahasa.
